For those that listen to more than only digital, you need extra inputs. And this little box provides you with two extra inputs. One set of XLR and RCA's. Since I have a big turntable with 3 arms going to a Gold Note PH10+PS10 that has 2 inputs and two outputs I can use that for the XLR, and my tube EAR834 clone for the RCA. A perfect fit.
But what is most important: how does it work and how does it sound? It works in total unity with the HP2a. Use the remote, use the < > buttons and you see the extra inputs.
The sound is, well... The same. I can't tell the difference between inputs. A special mention to the RCA input: I played an LP with a very revealing MC cartridge, with a SUT to the tube phono and out to my HE1000V2 planar headphones. I was amazed how quiet, detailed and full it sounded without any stress or stridency. Also, I didn't detect any hum. This can sometimes be problematic with this tube phono amp.
One little downside: it is light and has 3 feet and with stiff XLR cables it is hard to place it level and lined out where you want it.
But, as you can see: a nice lineup in black and gold. When I made the bamboo rack I could not imagine it would fill out like this.
