I’m deeply impressed with this DAC. Right out of the box, the sound is both incredibly detailed and effortlessly smooth at the same time. The level of insight into recordings is out of this world, with amazing air and space between instruments.
The depth and width of the soundstage create a feeling of being inside the recording itself - as if you were sitting in the recording studio or at a live concert. At the same time, despite the precise separation and layering, the presentation never sounds analytical or sterile. Instead, it’s deeply engaging and emotionally involving. This DAC seems to achieve the impossible: combining fire and water.
The bass is powerful yet incredibly controlled - it has everything: rich textures, deep extension, and fast, punchy impact. The treble is sparkling and airy, yet also smooth and refined. The midrange is seductive, natural, and again wonderfully nuanced and varied.
But the most important thing is the harmony between all these elements. What an absolute pleasure it is to listen to.
I received my LAiV Harmony DAC last Saturday. I haven’t quite hit the recommended 100-hour burn-in mark yet, but I’m getting close.
My setup consists of a Mac Mini connected via USB to the LAiV uDDC, then via I2S into the Harmony DAC (with the clock set to I2S). For amplification, I’m running the Hifiman Prelude and the Stax SRM-700S, powering a collection that includes the Stax SR-009s, Hifiman Susvara, HE1000se, and the Sennheiser HD800S.
Coming from my previous DAC (laiv udac), the difference in performance was immediate. The soundstage is wider and bigger , the imaging is pin-point accurate, and the instrument separation is phenomenal. You can clearly hear every vocal nuance and instrument in its own space with incredible detail. It’s truly on another level—a flagship DAC in every sense. Having tried various Delta-Sigma, AKM, and R2R designs, the Harmony DAC is easily the best I’ve heard in terms of sheer musicality and performance.
One important caveat: to truly appreciate what this DAC can do, you need a high-end amp and resolving, professional-grade headphones. Otherwise, you might not notice the full leap in quality.
On the downside, it’s a bit frustrating that you can’t use the XLR and RCA outputs simultaneously. Since I run multiple amps, I really wish there was a menu option to toggle between outputs .

I had the µDAC and sold it, deciding to go all the way to the Harmony. I am glad I did, and enjoying the sound very much. Using it in conjuction with the µDDC. Waiting to see what LAIV comes up with for any updates or upgrades for the Harmony. Customer service is excellent, Weng and Soon are extremely helpful with any emails, and I have sent quite a few ! Glad I got to meet them recently at Axpona 2026, nice people !
